Book of Me 1: pages 42 & 54

“First keep the peace within yourself, then you can also bring peace to others.”
-Thomas A. Kempis

How I Relax (page 42)
10 things I am Grateful for (page 54)

**Both pages are single page layouts**

You must include journaling and at least one photograph/list on each page, although the more you include the better.

This lesson we look at two aspects of our lives that require differing levels of reflection. Be honest with both topics and remember sensitive or personal information can be hidden with some extra cardstock and creative cutting.Both topics are fantastic opportunities to use list style journaling.

How I Relax

relax verb 1 make or become less tight or stiff. 2 make or become less strict, relax the rules. 3 stop working; rest relaxation noun [from re-=back, + Latin laxus=loose]

How do you relax?

Is it your creative outlet/s, idleness, TV, reading, writing, exercise or sleep.

What activity or non-activity helps you unwind the most?

It may seem strange, it may seem too ordinary, it may seem boring, it may seem too active, it may seem odd, but we all relax differently because we are all different!

Try to include a photograph of you relaxing.

10 Things I am Grateful for

grateful adjective feeling or showing that you value what was done for you. gratefully adverb [from Latin gratus=thankful, pleasing]

Definitely a list opportunity here, but a paragraph of explanation would also by an ideal as well.

Sit down with some paper and a pen, put your feet up and think about your life, both in detail and in general

Some of the levels to look at your gratitude are:
-Personal
-Global
-Local
-Other people
-Family
-Time
-Personality
-Material things
-Activities
-Life itself

You could include small (or index) photographs of the things you are grateful for, or another photograph of yourself.

“Gratitude is happiness doubled by yourself and wonder.”
-G. K. Chesterton

Journaling Help
I know it is hard not to perceive and preempt the judgement of others when we are scrapbooking, but we have to find the strength within ourselves to have a go. If we let the opinions of others dictate our pages we lose the freedom and bendfits of our creative-selves. Hidden journaling is a great saviour, but a thick skin (although hard to grow) is a wonderful tool. The next time you find yourself considering the opinions of others when you are creating stop and remember it is your page not theirs.

Tips and Hints for completing your book:
* Keep collecting/copying every photograph with you in it
* Don’t have any or many photographs of yourself….Take some! Take lots!
* Get a notebook or cheap exercise book and write down anything about yourself as it comes to you
* Use stuff you love (scrapbooking supplies)
* This is a good opportunity to use up your stash
* You could use your favourite colour scheme
* Try something different on every page
* Experiment on every page
* Use your own handwriting
* Scraplift if all if you want
* Be honest

* Use your own style of scrapbooking or try something a bit different
* Do the pages as simple or as elaborate as you choose
* Use hidden journaling to conceal sensitive or personal information
REMEMBER this is your book about yourself and that means you get to do it how you want!
